“Buying a camera doesn’t make you a photographer. It makes you a camera owner.” —Photographic Proverb
Ever since Kevin Ramos first looked through the viewfinder of a digital reflex camera in 2007, he had the feeling that photography was to be more than just a hobby; it would be his calling.
Kevin’s involvement with photography came as much of a surprise while attending business school in Chicago. While his exacting nature originally pushed him into an accounting degree, he later picked up marketing as well, feeling the need for a creative outlet. Craving more than what business school had to offer, Kevin ultimately took a friend's suggestion to heart and bought a camera.
The day that Kevin’s camera arrived, he spent as much free time as possible photographing anything and everything in sight, beginning with local Chicago tourist attractions. It could be said that he learned the art of photography on Michigan Avenue. After graduation, Kevin devoted his time to learning the many details of photography: advanced software, lighting, studio techniques, and personal style. To this day, Kevin Ramos maintains that he is a 100% self-taught photographer.
Kevin is a passionate photographer with ambitious vision. He is influenced by a wide range of seemingly paradoxical ideologies; he is an analytical, yet unconventionally spiritual, businessman with a true heart for the arts. Through photography, he aims to highlight and capture graceful moments in all walks of life. To him, a photograph can reveal a singular truth and a whole story in a moment.
